Counselling & Coaching
AN INDIVIDUALIZED JOURNEY
A Space for Reflection and Growth
At Find Your Sunrise, a counselling and coaching session is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. It’s a space to explore and gain clarity about what’s holding you back.
Rooted in compassion and guided by evidence-based practice, counselling supports both healing and growth—helping you build a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling.

My Approach
I use an integrative counselling approach grounded in psychodynamic and existential–humanistic foundations.
This means I explore the deeper roots of emotional challenges, including how past experiences shape present patterns, while also honouring each person’s unique perspective and lived experience.
I incorporate somatic interventions drawn from the polyvagal theory to support embodiment and nervous system regulation.
My work is trauma-informed, violence-informed, and anti-oppressive, supporting clients in moving toward a more connected, empowered way of living.
Working Together
Our work is collaborative and grounded in empathy. Drawing on evidence-based approaches, we’ll develop a personalized plan that aligns with your goals and values. These approaches include:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Mindfulness-Based Practices
The process is practical yet compassionate, providing a safe space to explore life’s challenges and nurture personal growth. I will listen intently, highlight your strengths and challenge you to examine your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Let’s find your way forward, together

An MPCC is a professional designation given to a therapist who has fulfilled rigorous training, educational, and competency requirements. They are governed by the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA), ensuring they provide ethical, competent, and professional services. (
Counsellors with the MPCC designation have completed the necessary training and education along with demonstrating the skills to provide safe and effective counselling services.)

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan, depending on your coverage.
Members of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) are frequently recognized and covered by several insurance companies.
I do not bill directly to insurance companies. My policy is to provide a receipt once full payment is made. You then use this receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
-
You can pay via credit card or e-transfer.
-
I offer a sliding scale for a limited number of clients who are low-income. Please contact me to enquire.
-
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
I am committed to providing every client with exceptional care. When a client cancels without giving enough notice, it prevents another client from being seen.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or when a client does not show up for their scheduled session, will be charged the full cost of the session.
If you’re running late, contact me to let me know. I will do my best to accommodate the full session. This is not always possible if there is a client booked after you.

Our first session is about getting to know each other and building rapport and trust. I’ll invite you to talk about your current struggle and what specifically brings you to counselling. I will also ask you some questions about your family of origin, past traumas and losses and other important information to help me assess your needs. In this session we will also set goals and intentions for your therapy.
Please note that your completed consent and confidentiality form is required to proceed with your scheduled appointment.

Clients usually book sessions weekly or bi-weekly, but this varies often depending on resources like time and money. Consistency is helpful in order to see significant gains. Throughout therapy, we will continually evaluate how you feel the sessions are going and review your goals.
I encourage clients to invest time between sessions reflecting on our work and taking notes/journalling about any progress and insights. In my experience this can have significant impact to the effectiveness of counselling and supports the work we do together.

This is a very individualized process. The answer depends on a wide range of factors, such as the complexity of the presenting issues, your commitment and engagement in the therapeutic process and the resources available to you outside of therapy.
Therapy is a collaborative process, and progress and goals will be discussed throughout the course of treatment. Some clients may feel better in as few as 5-8 sessions, while others may choose to continue therapy on a consistent long-term basis.
-
First, you can schedule a free consultation.
We will have 15-20 minutes to chat and see if we are a fit. I recommend talking to a few different therapists if you can.
I will ask you to tell me what has prompted you to seek help, and if you’ve tried counselling before what you liked and didn’t like.
Don’t be afraid to ask me, or any potential therapist, how they would approach working with your particular struggle and what their training and background is.
Always remember that you are not committed to a therapist for life - you can stop at any time and try someone else, if the fit isn’t right.
